Spring Community Newsletter

Updated: Jul 21, 2023

On the 2nd of March, we hosted our first Social Prescribing community health and wellbeing event of 2023 at 2-8 Gracefield Gardens Health and Social Centre.

In partnership with Streatham AT Medics PCN, Streatham PCN, and Streatham Youth Community Trust, we encouraged patients and residents to access support from local organisations.

Residents were able to access the Lambeth wellbeing bus and get support from Citizens Advice Bureau.

Other services that collaborated with us were, NIHR Dementia research, Age UK Lambeth, SYCT Wellbeing Ambassadors, Healthwatch Lambeth, and South Lambeth Cares.

The mental health coffee morning started at 11:30 am patients were able to connect, share their current circumstances and get support from the Social Prescribing help desk.

Throughout the day we were able to help up to 50 people with signposting to a variety of services that tackle the social determinants of health.

Thank you to everyone that helped out on the day looking forward to our next Community health and wellbeing day!

News about warm spaces throughout March!

To support the community, Lambeth Council has partnered with a diverse set of superb organisations to open a network of warm spaces across Lambeth that residents can visit for free! See the warm spaces directory here: https://www.lambeth.gov.uk/warm-spaces

If community members want to meet others, socialise, reduce their energy costs, have conversations, participate in available activities, access services, WFWS (work from warm space), or just relax in a welcoming environment, then visit a local warm space.

Community members will find that each warm space is slightly different; residents can find some in community halls and hubs, theatres and galleries, libraries, and faith spaces. Some offer Energy Savings Kits, free coffee mornings, free/£1 meals, and an array of activities and services. Each has different opening times. Whichever warm space residents visit, all will be safe, heated, welcoming, kind, and inclusive.
